Obtaining an Injunction

An injunction is an order by a judge that commands someone to either do or stop doing something. You can ask the court to issue your landlord an injunction to allow you back into your home or to stop harassing you. Your landlord can be fined or sent to prison for not obeying an injunction.

There are three different types of injunctions used in property disputes:

  • Interim injunction – requiring the opponent to do or not do a specific action
  • Mandatory injunction – requiring the opponent to undo something they have already done
  • Final Injunction – granted at the end of legal proceedings

It can be very stressful and upsetting going through a situation requiring a property injunction, as a result, it is best to take legal advice from a housing solicitor who can prepare the application for a court order and offer the best legal advice on your property dispute.
